Services
Genetics Laboratory
The Genetics Laboratory is accredited by the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Farming and Supply since 1992 (laws 88/1992 and 105/2008). Details of the most recent accreditation can be obtained at the site of the Ministry or click here.
The laboratory has certificates of international proficiency for the tests of genetic identification and confirmation of genealogies issued by ISAG (International Society for Animal Genetics) for cattle and horses. It is among the best laboratories in the world, with level 1 in proficiency for both tests.
The Genetics Laboratory has all the infrastructure for conventional tests in animal genetics and also operates in molecular biology.
Its objectives are:
-Support related courses, both at undergraduate and graduate levels.
-Carry out research in animal genetics;
-Provide services to the community, with different tests for domestic animals.
Quality assurance:
As a member of ISAG (International Society for Animal Genetics), it is always up-to-date and participates in International Comparative Tests every 2 years. It also has collaboration from researchers linked to foreign research centers, with technical, scientific cooperation agreements, as follows:
