Created in 1932, the UFMG's Veterinary School comes from idealistic minds and untiring personalities. A pioneer and reference in Brazilian Veterinary Medicine, it completed 80 years of solid history in 2012, having graduated over 5 thousand veterinary doctors.
With a rich history of great achievements, the School continues the mission of generating, developing, transmitting and applying the knowledge of animal science. Through teaching, research and extension, it intends to train critical and ethical human resources committed to the transformation of society and sustainable development.
In the trailblazing and innovation path, the UFMG's Veterinary School has contributed over these 80 years to animal health and production, creating and revolutionizing concepts, developing new technologies and products, generating solid scientific knowledge applied to the improvement of animal wellbeing and the development of Brazilian agribusiness.
With its focus on the future, the School celebrates a past of excellence that places it among the most respected teaching, research and extension institutions in Brazil and abroad. Today it also offers the Aquaculture Course and masters and doctoral courses in Veterinary Science and Animal Science, as well as medical and veterinary medicine residence with 19 concentration areas.
The UFMG's Veterinary School was and continues to be a reference in its field and continues investing in ideas, renewal, teaching quality, modernization of its structure and qualification of its teachers, seeking to bring advances to science and society as a whole.
