Veterinary Science

The Graduate Program in Veterinary Science of the Veterinary School of the UFMG was restructured in 2007, incorporating the program of Master in Veterinary Science, which existed since 1968, with the Doctoral Program in Veterinary Science, created in 1989.  Both the masters and the doctoral program have a grade 6 at Capes (Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel).

The objective is to train personnel in higher education teaching, research or the labor market for companies and self-employed professionals, by developing the skill to do original and independent research.

The training can be carried out in 6 different Areas of Concentration: Veterinary Medicine and Surgery, Animal Pathology, Animal Reproduction, Epidemiology, Preventive Veterinary Medicine and Technology and Inspection of Animal Products. Three departments of the Veterinary School are involved in the Graduate Program in Veterinary Science: the Department of Veterinary Clinic and Surgery, the Department of Preventive Veterinary Medicine and the Department of Technology and Inspection of Animal Products.
