The Animal Science Department (DZOO) provides training on the work with healthy animals, seeking better performance, wellbeing and productivity.
Focus on three main areas: Genetics and Animal Improvement, Animal Production and Animal Nutrition. The Department works with different species: fish, horses, pigs, cattle, sheep and rabbits. The objective is to assure the improvement of animal food production, through studies on nutrition, the environment and installations where the animals live and reproduce. There are also studies not linked to animal production, which seek to establish adequate diets and to assure a better quality of life for pets, such as dogs and cats.
